Abstract
This IDC Perspective provides IT buyer recommendations and a snapshot of how IDC's forecast for the worldwide unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) market has been impacted by COVID-19. The COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation, with the spread of the virus and efforts to mitigate its impact continuing to evolve. IDC will update its worldwide UC&C market forecasts on an ongoing basis in the coming months as this outbreak and its economic implications evolve.
"Although COVID-19 is expected to reduce overall IT spending across many technology areas in the first three quarters of 2020, video and collaboration services were not negatively impacted," says Rich Costello, research director for IDC's Unified Communications and Collaboration program. "In fact, due to most organizations in mid-March needing to quickly scale and provision for employees suddenly working from home, many video and collaboration vendors and providers experienced exponential growth in users during 1H20."
