"In the coming years, both structured and unstructured data volumes will surge, with structured data growing rapidly in part due to AI, automation, the expansion of IoT devices, and growing use of advanced analytics solutions," says Adam Wright, research manager for IDC's Global DataSphere research program. "AI and machine learning — including generative AI — is also poised to amplify unstructured data creation and storage.
