Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Survey Spotlight is sourced from IDC's Future Enterprise Connectivity Survey, fielded in August of 2024, capturing connectivity technology priorities, networking challenges, and investment expectations from 751 enterprise decision-makers worldwide across 19 countries and 18 vertical industries.
IDC's September 2024 Future Enterprise Connectivity Survey shows that as ubiquitous connectivity increases in importance for enterprises worldwide, the embrace of new 5G technologies to ensure network resiliency continues to evolve, even as adoption and preferences differ based on region. Today, North American enterprises are heavier users of fixed wireless access technologies for primary or secondary office connectivity, with 48% stating they use it today. This compares with 35% for Europe and 32% for APAC.
The top attributes of 5G technologies also vary by region, with North American and European enterprises highlighting sub-5 millisecond latency, whereas APAC enterprises highlighted the benefits of improved connectivity resiliency and higher speeds.
