Abstract

This IDC MarketScape examined 13 different vendors offering professional security services in the highly competitive and maturing Asia/Pacific market. The participating firms were meticulously evaluated using the IDC MarketScape model, which reviewed the vendors’ capabilities and strategies against an extensive list of scoring criteria and parameters. These include the comprehensiveness of their offerings, portfolio benefits, market execution, market presence, innovation, thought leadership, customer satisfaction, and employee management, to name a few. With the combination of primary research, as well as IDC’s own in-depth industry knowledge and insights, we were able to methodically assess the strength of each participating vendor as and their challenges. The vendors’ position on the IDC MarketScape figure will be a valuable indicator for enterprises and organizations in Asia/Pacific that are currently seeking a security provider and trusted partner to guide them on their digital transformation (DX) journey.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the world into chaos, and no organization has been spared. Organizations were plunged into a new digital era and forced into a corner; either adapt, evolve, and find new ways to create value or stay stagnant and be left behind. However, this shift toward an accelerated DX era has also invited more risks on unparalleled levels, and organizations should be weary of the reputational, operational, legal, and regulatory implications if such cybersecurity risks are neglected. Hence, enterprises and organizations should work with professional security services providers with which they can forge a trusted relationship to guide them through these unprecedented times," says Christian Fam, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Services and Security.

"Security has evolved as a strategic and business imperative for organizations, and they are reevaluating their security architecture in the light of the expanding threat landscape. DX initiatives, migration to hybrid and multicloud environments, remote work practices, and tightening regulations have added to the complexities faced by IT teams. This entails reassessment of IT architecture and investment reprioritization to secure hybrid work environments. Organizations need to work in partnership with professional security SPs to build a robust and fool-proof security environment that begins with security assessment and redesigning, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) advisory, incident response readiness, and creation of a strong foundation through implementation or integration of security layers to build modern enterprises of the future," says Shweta Baidya, senior research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Services and Security.
