Abstract


This IDC Presentation discusses the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) regionalization of the IDC FutureScape: Worldwide Chief Marketing Officer 2024 Predictions (IDC #US50107023, October 2023). The marketing landscape in APEJ is evolving toward being more data driven. With factors, such as generative AI (GenAI), marketing content fatigue, phasing out of cookies, and a shift toward an open advertising ecosystem, it is becoming increasingly important for CMOs and CIOs to stay updated on all these evolving trends, how they will impact the marketing and IT functions, and how they can get ahead of this disruption by strategically positioning themselves amid these.

The APEJ region shows a positive trend in the evolution of the CMO role to include new IT responsibilities and closer alignment with other functions, such as product management, sales, and so on. Although these highlight a step in the right direction, there is still more to be done.
