Abstract
This IDC Market Presentation analyzes European IT leaders' attitudes about the top challenges when setting their tech spending, the areas considered most immune to budget reduction, the expected impact of generative AI (GenAI) on IT operations and services spending, and the areas that are likely to attract the most or the least share of the IT budget.
IT leaders are faced with a plethora of challenges as they set their IT budgets for 2024 to navigate external macroeconomic dynamics while advancing their digital transformation journeys. IDC conducts a monthly survey — the Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending (FERS) Survey — to gauge the sentiment of IT leaders on how they are addressing external barriers and prioritizing technology investments. The surveys of 220 respondents in Western Europe were conducted in March (wave 3) and April 2024 (wave 4), respectively, and represent a snapshot of that moment in time.
