Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines how European security leaders (including CISOs) anticipate an increase in executive expectations around GenAI investments. The success rates of GenAI proofs-of-concept and pilots in 2023-2024 will need to increase in the coming year, if continued investment is to be justified.
These expectations are increasing at the same time as long-protected security budgets are starting to come under pressure in Europe. CISOs must examine their GenAI investments to see if:
- They meet a real need now, not in the future
- Are sufficiently reliable from a security operations perspective
- The opportunity cost (of investing in GenAI vs. something else) can be justified
