Abstract
This IDC Market Presentation analyzes IT leaders' attitudes regarding the use of cloud (including multicloud and hybrid cloud) strategies in support of their GenAI efforts. The dramatic increase in awareness of generative AI (GenAI) promises to drastically reduce the time and costs associated with use cases linked to automation and intelligence. This report digs deep into how the emergence of GenAI as a major new workload is affecting infrastructure, AI platform, and workload deployment decisions. It also provides insights into how IT leaders are assessing their long-term relationships with external services providers in the context of GenAI.
IDC conducts a monthly survey (the Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey) to test the sentiment of IT leaders on how they are addressing external barriers and prioritizing technology investments. IT leaders started 2024 continuing to weigh the impact of potential economic/geopolitical disruptions while executing investment plans related to GenAI. Surveys of 220 respondents in Western Europe were conducted in January (wave 1), February (wave 2), and April 2024 (wave 4), respectively, and represent a snapshot of those moments in time.
