Abstract
This IDC Perspective provides a current view of, and IT buyer recommendations and executive snapshot for, deploying SD-WAN architecture in support of a UC&C workload, as vendors continue to build stronger integrations between their SD-WAN technology and networking platforms in the datacenter and enterprise campus, as well as extending SD-WAN to mobile users, IoT, and work-from-home scenarios.
"With many enterprise business applications being accessed via the internet today — applications ranging from UC&C to sales tools and marketing cloud services — performance can become an issue for organizations and their workers, whether they are in HQs or branch office locations or, in what has mostly been the case in 2020, remote/WFH locations," says Rich Costello, senior research analyst, IDC's Unified Communications and Collaboration program. "Given the importance of UC&C for enterprises today, and particularly cloud-managed UC&C platforms in the age of COVID-19, SD-WAN has become a critical technology for optimizing and assuring voice and video traffic."
