Abstract

This IDC Perspective is one in a series of IDC studies that examine agile, value stream management (VSM) and enterprise IT and project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions and provide both vendor analysis and customer reference context for technology adoption and user buyer decision making. This document assesses the strategy of Digital.ai, a vendor targeting agile PPM, VSM, and DevOps in the cloud with analytics and evolving ML capabilities. We discuss Digital.ai's agile PPM, VSM, and DevOps product portfolio. We position Digital.ai relative to trends in user adoption and demand for combined agile PPM and VSM execution. We do so in the context of an overall economy that is volatile in unprecedented ways with ongoing hybrid work, geopolitical upheaval, financial contraction, and unpredictability as we move into 2023. We also include a summary of a Digital.ai customer reference, which is a $58 million-per-year health insurer seeking to transition from waterfall to agile processes.

"IDC sees adoption of agile PPM and value stream management solutions for dynamic execution and innovative decision making via automation to help enable speedy responsiveness to dynamically changing environments and initiatives," said Melinda Ballou, research director, IDC's Agile ALM, Quality, and Portfolio Strategies service. "Complementing these capabilities, increasingly, we observe demand for collaboration and adaptive PPM along with PPM approaches for businesses and technology helping to focus teams with targeted execution globally, cutting delays to benefit, and improving metrics. It is partly due to these trends that IDC has chosen to prioritize this area as one of the several areas for a series of end user–oriented updated vendor analysis."
