Abstract

This IDC Survey, conducted in November 2022, focuses on fitness in the workplace. We polled 63 IT decision makers whose companies have deployed smartwatches to their employees, focusing on acquisition, used and preferred brands, usage for healthcare, and overall satisfaction. According to the survey results, 47% of the participants indicated that they have observed a reduction in healthcare expenses at an average of 19.3%, and some have seen even more. As companies increasingly emphasize positive mental and physical health, fitness trackers are in a strong position to help.

"Fitness trackers have yet to catch on meaningfully within the enterprise," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's Wearables team. "While this is on par with their smartwatch cousins, it is still further behind smartphones, PCs, and tablets. At the same time, fitness trackers have historically been popular with consumers, making it easy for employees to purchase and manage their own."
