Abstract
This IDC study provides the forecast for the edge endpoint AI processor and accelerator market for 2024–2028. This study does not include edge infrastructure processors and accelerators.
"AI processors and accelerators continue to be a growth segment for the semiconductor industry as interest grows in AI for the edge endpoints. Companies better understand the potential benefits and are gaining experience with AI," says Nina Turner, research director in IDC's Enabling Technologies and Semiconductor team. "Datacenters will continue to be a strong focus, but latency, privacy, and capacity will be an issue, increasing the demand for on-device compute. Integrated AI host processors or discrete AI accelerators for endpoint systems will be key enablers of AI, but AI acceleration is being rapidly integrated onto processors. The software ecosystem, reference frameworks, and vendor experience will be key areas of differentiation."
