This IDC study assesses the vendor performance of business consulting services providers worldwide. Business consulting providers are all well accustomed to partnering with their clients and have developed a great many techniques, training designs, points of view, and practices for working with their clients. Where partnering becomes difficult for clients and providers is in managing this partnership as the phases and dynamics of projects change. Providers and clients must communicate about the reasoning, manner, and approach of their partnership for the best results. At times, partnership requires collaboration and others more direct provider control to succeed. As conditions shift and partnering styles change, the best business consultancies are clear and compassionate in moving to new ways of working.
