Abstract

This IDC study provides our 2024–2028 forecast for the managed print and document services and basic print services market. Considering the tumultuous conditions of the past few years, the market for print and document services appears to have stabilized. Total worldwide MPDS/BPS market revenue declined 1.8% in 2023. Declining revenue in BPS (-4.4%) was buoyed somewhat by modest revenue growth of 1.3% in MPDS. This is a trend that will continue throughout the forecast period, with revenue growth in MPDS largely offset by a corresponding decline in BPS revenue across all company size segments.

"The MPDS market represents growth opportunities for vendors and service providers as customers continue to look for ways to support the hybrid workforce," says Robert Palmer, research vice president for IDC's Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions group. "By focusing on cloud-based solutions to address print modernization, vendors can drive innovation to help customers achieve a more dependable, secure, and future-ready print environment."
