Abstract

This IDC Survey highlights selected results from IDC's June 2024 Worldwide Digital Infrastructure Sentiment Survey. The survey results represent input from 1,129 senior IT and business decision-makers from a wide range of industries and geographic locations.

As part of the survey, IDC asked decision-makers to identify their organization's first and second most strategic computing and storage equipment vendors. This IDC survey uses these responses to segment customer priorities and decision drivers based on strategic vendor affiliation.

The research shows that regardless of strategic computing and storage equipment vendor affiliation, IT infrastructure decision-makers are focused on AI, data, and security-related capabilities. They are anxious to improve operational scale and efficiency as well. Computing and storage equipment vendors have opportunities to improve differentiation and longer-term strategic customer relationships by delivering breakthrough AI and data capabilities over the next two years. Opportunities to create strategic equipment vendor pivots will depend on how well the customer believes a specific vendor can improve security and operational scale while ensuring consistent AI data control and resilience in a cost-effective manner.
