Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the top technology investment areas over the next 18 months designed to improve operational agility and employee productivity. While one-third of the enterprises currently rank GenAI assistants as the top investment area, communications and collaboration tools and platforms rank a close second at 32%. As enterprises continue down the digital path to becoming more agile and connected, IDC expects enterprise investment in collaboration to remain a cost-effective priority for remote work, data centralization, customer service, and faster decision-making at the customer service level but will require integration with GenAI tools to maximize the value of data in real time and to reduce the risk of creating yet another enterprise data silo.
The data in this Survey Spotlight comes from IDC's 2024 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 3, which captures technology and IT priorities, challenges, and investment expectations from 887 worldwide enterprise decision-makers across 19 countries and over 20 industry segments.
