Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight pulls its data from IDC's 2023 ServicesPath Survey. In this IDC Survey Spotlight, I share data that shows that buyers care about a great many elements when considering a provider for their business consulting services needs.

IDC's Worldwide ServicesPath shows that buyers care about a great many elements when considering a provider for their business consulting services needs. To make a greater distinction between the factors, I have bunched the elements into four central elements for provider choice: what, context, who, and how. The "quality of the solution" stands out as the single most chosen factor. Put together with the "quality of the people tasked to the case," the "what" stands out above the "context," made up of "understanding the buyer's industry, business, and problem." The "how," which comes in last with "price and different provider for new approach," is least important to buyers when considering their business consulting provider choice.
