Abstract

This IDC Survey uses data from IDC's 2024 Worldwide Future of Work Survey. The document highlights responses from 1,269 professionals across the North America, EMEA, and APAC regions. It covers over 18 industries and respondents from distinct roles including HR, IT, and LOB functions. This survey was designed to understand investment trends in workplace and workspace technologies including generative AI, intelligent digital workspace solutions, collaboration and conferencing technologies, and frontline workforce enablement.

The research shows that large enterprises are investing in work tech to redesign office spaces and improve workforce collaboration and smaller companies are investing in hardware and peripheral devices to enable their flexible workforce. IT leaders also increased investments in conferencing solutions and digital adoption platforms.

"Organizations are refining flexible work models across both physical workplaces and digital workspaces to improve collaboration and workforce productivity — driving work technology investments, which grew 15.8% YoY in 2024," said Amy Loomis, vice president, Future of Work at IDC. "As companies continue to optimize employee experience, they have forecast higher investment in intelligent digital workspace tech for 2024, a trend we expect to see continue into next year complementing on-premises investments."
