Abstract

This IDC Market Presentation is Part 2, out of a two-part series of presentations, which provides detailed views of the survey findings from IDC's Managed Cloud View 2024 Survey in graphical form involving managed cloud services. This worldwide survey involved polling 1,514 organizations, which included both IT and LOB respondents, across 6 countries and 12 industries, to collect information on use and adoption of managed cloud services by enterprises. This presentation should be used in conjunction with IDC's Managed Cloud View 2024: Executive Summary (forthcoming).

While Part 1 focuses on an array of topics involving managed multicloud services, Part 2 of these two presentations focuses on strategic factors shaping the broader market for managed cloud services that involve 31 of the 48 questions posed in the Managed Cloud View 2024 Survey, which are organized by six sections. The topics in these sections include drivers and inhibitors, modernization and transformation of mainframe environments, supporting sovereign clouds, incorporating sustainability for datacenter and private cloud environments, enterprise priorities of technologies and services with utilizing AI, and use of edge computing across technologies including workloads and applications. Further, each of the questions posed in this survey is presented as a set of data graphs across four key demographic and buyer segment views at a worldwide level, by three regions, by four firm sizes based on number of employees, and by four user roles involved in selecting and/or managing managed SPs (service providers).

"This IDC Market Presentation provides an organized view of the data results from IDC's worldwide Managed Cloud View 2024 Survey generated from enterprise users and potential users of managed cloud services, which is designed for quick searches to understand critical trends in buyer needs involving these services by presenting each question posed in this survey in graphical form that includes four key demographic buyer views. The value in using the graphical presentations of the survey results can assist vendors in building solutions, defining go-to-market strategies, determining investments, and developing effective channel and partner ecosystems to support driving opportunities in the managed cloud services market," said David Tapper, VP, Outsourcing and Managed Cloud Services at IDC.
