Abstract
The IDC Special Study examines the results of IDC's July 2024 Worldwide GenAI Use Case Survey. The objective of the survey was to examine in detail the use case business priorities, adoption plans, and associated buying behavior at the functional (department) level. With the excitement and hype around generative AI (GenAI) among the technology and business community at large, IDC believed it was important to examine adoption at the use case level within key business functions, including front office, back office, and technology departments.
This report is 1 of 3 deliverables as part of the IDC Special Report examining GenAI Use Case adoption across 13 functional areas. The report is based on a detailed worldwide survey that provides insights to help vendors understand where enterprises are prioritizing their GenAI investments and the business outcomes they aim to achieve. This study is based on an in-depth survey of 3130 respondents with responsibility and knowledge of GenAI solutions.
