Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight identifies key considerations when investing in AI infrastructure in the next 18 months. This document covers a full range of attributes including various pieces of the AI stack, sustainability metrics, and flexible consumption pricing models. It draws data from IDC's 2024 Global AI and Sustainability Survey (n = 1,390).
"Over the next investment horizon, experimentation and uncertainty in AI investment outcomes remains a key theme," says Lara Greden, senior research director, IDC's Flexible Consumption and Financing Strategies for IT Infrastructure. "IT infrastructure strategy for the AI era shows a renewed emphasis on flexibility and priorities to consolidate workloads onto smaller footprints, gain datacenter efficiencies, and meet sustainability objectives."
