Abstract
This IDC Tech Buyer Survey Spotlight focuses on the topic of sustainable operations and the drivers behind these initiatives. Operations plays a large role in an organization's sustainability footprint and given the size/impact that industrial sectors (manufacturing, oil and gas, utilities, mining, etc.) have on the environment, getting these industries to engage in sustainability will be critical toward any climate change goals. While many across these industries recognize that change is needed, the trouble that most run into is limited experience and expertise around sustainability. It is important to understand the drivers behind these initiatives and the outcomes that will be most important to achieve.
This IDC Tech Buyer Survey Spotlight is based on IDC's August 2023 Future of Operations Survey, which surveyed roughly 850 organizations to better understand the determinants and best practices for operational excellence and resilience. For the purposes of this survey, operations referred to the activities responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient execution of physical processes central to an organization's business.
