SINGAPORE, 29 August 2024 – According to the IDC Worldwide Industrial Printer Tracker, a total of 620 units of digital industrial textile printers were shipped in 2024 Q2 for Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), marking a notable 17.2% year-on-year (YoY) growth, with a sequential growth of 10.7%.

This robust growth reflects the increasing demand for digital textile printing solutions across Asia/Pacific, driven by the continued expansion of the fashion and home textiles industries. The shift towards more sustainable and efficient production methods is also a contributing factor, in which digital textile printers offer reduced water and energy consumption compared to traditional methods.

The overall industry textile market was still largely accounted for by dye-sublimation ink, with more than 75% of the total shipment out of the Asia/Pacific excluding Japan, and the remaining comprises open system ink. The versatility of dye-sublimation ink type is also one of the key factors in its widespread adoption. From fashion and sportswear to home décor and soft signages, textile factories and print service providers across diverse segments are leveraging its ability to deliver durable prints on a variety of textiles.

“The surge in digital textile printer shipments is a strong indicator of the commitment towards innovation in the textiles industry,” said Sharon Cheng, Senior Research Analyst, Imaging Printing and Document Solution (IPDS). “As the demand for personalized, short run with high-quality textiles continues to grow, textiles factories are increasingly adopting digital solutions that offer quick turnaround, minimal inventory, and sustainability,” Cheng adds.

“The digital textile printing market is largely influenced by the bold expansion of Chinese brands across Asia/Pacific region except Japan,” said Yel Bautista, Research Analyst, Imaging Printing and Document Solution (IPDS). “Chinese brands have introduced competitive pricing for their high-performance printers that strategically target a diverse range of markets and customers across the region and bolstered by strong partnerships with local dealers that enable effective market penetration and provide local support and services,” followed by Yel.

The increasing adoption is expected to gain further momentum as printer vendors continue to innovate and provide advanced digital textile printing technologies that offer competitive advantages to enable the textile factories and print service providers to enhance their production capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the market.
