As global challenges reshape industries, enterprises are driven to adopt sustainable, tech-driven models. Now in its 8th year, the IDC Future Enterprise Awards have honored over 600 winners from 6,000+ nominations, recognizing digital-first pioneers from 3,000 organizations across 12 countries who are redefining their industries.

Following a two-phased approach, each nomination is evaluated by IDC analysts, with country winners then qualifying for a regional competition judged by a panel of international experts. The following are the best out of all the nominations received from ANZ:

Best in Future of Digital Infrastructure | Cloud Observability Uplift Project by John Holland

John Holland created the cloud observability uplift project in the platform to provide a single source of truth for proactive identification and resolution of issues, ensuring smoother project execution and greater business continuity. By implementing this, John Holland removed traditional silos to create a democratized pathway for cross-functional teams to capture and present data, collaborate to solve problems, and mitigate operational impacts. The benefits realized over the past 12 months include a 40% reduction in observability costs and a 75% reduction in IT monitoring tools. The proactive incident detection and resolution has removed barriers to productivity, improved operational efficiency, and positioned the business to continue its innovation and growth trajectory, ensuring reliable and efficient infrastructure delivery Australia-wide.

Best in Future of Enterprise Intelligence | Analytics for Course Engagement (ACE) Project by University of Canterbury

Analytics for Course Engagement (ACE) uses cutting-edge technology and automation to change learning trajectories for vulnerable university students: Māori people, those with Pacific ancestry, and individuals with disabilities or from low socioeconomic backgrounds. ACE is part of the University of Canterbury's student success program, Kia Angitu, which is committed to inclusive education and widening participation in higher education. The intelligent software integrates with the learning management system, using multiple data points, machine learning, and behavioral data to identify engagement trends and predict risks of attrition.

Best in Future of Work | Project Minerva by Chapman Tripp

Chapman Tripp's five-year strategy focuses on people, clients, business transformation, and community. Project Minerva is a key initiative within this strategy aimed at transforming the document management system (DMS) to enhance collaboration and knowledge management. Chapman Tripp leverages cutting-edge cloud technologies alongside traditional on-premises systems to create seamless integration for employees. By the end of day one, the firm had already filed over 40,000 items through the new DMS, marking a significant milestone in its Future of Work initiatives.

Special Award for Smart Cities — Best in Citizen Wellbeing | CONNECTED Project by Te Aka Toitū Trust

The CONNECTED project provides unlimited internet access at home for school students in the Eastern Bay of Plenty at no cost to their families. Te Aka Toitū Trust leverages the local schools' Network for Learning (N4L) fibre network, installing Wi-Fi towers at line-of-sight points in the area and customer premises equipment (CPE) at homes. Students gain access to free filtered Wi-Fi from the school's signal. This initiative has achieved 100% connectivity for students, ensuring devices and internet access are available for remote and isolated schools and homes.

All country winners qualify for the Asia/Pacific competition, where a panel of judges comprised of IDC worldwide analysts, industry thought leaders, and members of academia will determine the regional winners. These winners will be announced during the IDG Technology Symposium & Awards in Singapore at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre (MBS) on 19 November 2024. “In an era where being future-ready requires more than just technology investments, these trailblazers demonstrate that true business transformation demands a comprehensive digital and AI strategy. This includes customer-centric solutions, operational agility, and data-driven business models — key factors in achieving long-term resilience and growth in the digital business ecosystem,” ends Lai.
